MOTHER EARTH

Mother Earth – you gave birth
To all the living creatures of your body
Fed us all – you stood tall
Though all we ever wanted was shallow and shoddy
Sacrificed your deepest needs
For the benefit of our free will
You gave us room
To learn the lesson of the sin to kill

And now the time has come
When we must face what we’ve created
You’re showing us the outcome of humanity’s despair
Giving us the gift to realize that we’re related
Knowing that the future all depends on our ability to care


Gaya soul – wise and old
You were the one to guard this precious globe
Now you fly – say goodbye
Leaving it to mankind to nurture and cope
Did we ever open up
To the wisdom of your loving heart
Now we must search
Inside ourselves to find a way to start
